Shakespeare Reimagined – The Tempest Premieres in Epping with Such Stuff Productions

On Saturday, 2nd August 2025, the heart of Epping Baptist Church pulsed with theatrical magic as Such Stuff Productions unveiled their premiere of THE TEMPEST—a spellbinding performance that brought Shakespeare’s timeless tale to life with passion, ingenuity, and soul-stirring storytelling.

A Company of Vision and Emotion

Founded by the visionary Paul Kininmonth, Such Stuff Productions has carved a unique space in Sydney’s theatre scene. With the motto “The Bard Unbound,” the company is devoted to liberating Shakespeare from the confines of tradition, making his works accessible, emotionally resonant, and deeply human.

A Premiere to Remember

Paul Kininmonth and Such Stuff Production revive their acclaimed 2020 staging of The Tempest, a timely reflection on power, technology, and the human spirit. In a world increasingly shaped by forces we command—often to control or destroy—the play resonates deeply. Like Prospero, we hold immense power, yet Shakespeare reminds us that true strength lies in self-reflection and virtue. As the protagonist ultimately declares, “The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance.”

The Epping premiere of the Tempest was nothing short of captivating. From the first moment, the audience was swept into Prospero’s mystical island—a place where dreams, illusions, and truths collide. The cast delivered performances brimming with vitality and nuance, breathing fresh life into Shakespeare’s characters.

Their work is not just performance—it’s an invitation to feel, reflect, and rediscover the emotional truths that Shakespeare so masterfully penned.

The audience was deeply moved by the premiere of The Tempest by Such Stuff Productions—a truly captivating performance that brought Shakespeare’s magic vividly to life. The production was marked by passion, creativity, and powerful storytelling, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

Among the standout moments of the day was the entrance of the talented Romanian actor Cătălin Ovidiu Anastase, whose presence in the Australian cast was met with enthusiasm, contributing to the emotional depth and artistic integrity of the show.

The entire crew deserves applause for delivering unforgettable theatre—a living tribute to Shakespeare’s timeless beauty and the pulse of contemporary performance.
