Through the “CANTEMIR 300 – ROMANIA UNIVERSALIS” project, violinist Diana Jipa and pianist Ștefan Doniga will mark a real premiere for Romanian music, supporting a tour of 9 chamber recitals placed on an unprecedented geographical trajectory, ensuring their complete tour around the world between September 23rd and October 12th, 2023
The broad concept dedicated to the celebration of Dimitrie Cantemir’s personality, initiated by the two young musicians on January 15 of this year, will include a new stage that aims to illustrate as eloquently as possible the universal encompassing of Romanian culture. Thus, the new recital tour will start on September 23 in Spain, with events in Valencia, Castellon, and Alicante regions and the other two in Barcelona, to then go directly to the geographical antipode point – the city of Auckland in New Zealand. Here they will offer, on October 6 and 8, two more recitals – in Hamilton and Auckland, then leaving for Australia, in Sydney, for a new event in the sumptuous Gallery Room of the National Library, scheduled for October 10.
The tour will end with the crossing of the South Pacific, again to the east, in Santiago, the capital of the Republic of Chile, with a recital on October 12th at the Teatro Oriente, one of the most important artistic scenes of South America. The artists will return to Romania on October 15.
As part of the project, along with the proposed musical events, Diana Jipa and Ștefan Doniga are invited to give masterclasses at the Valencia Conservatory, they will participate in charity galas and have scheduled meetings with members of the Romanian communities in the countries visited.
The chamber recitals will include a repertoire dedicated exclusively to the promotion of Romanian musical creation, presenting scores placed on the trajectory of Byzantine influence and illustrating the evolution of this cultural and spiritual space over the last three centuries, as well as the importance of Dimitrie Cantemir’s personality in the context of Romanian and universal culture. The program starts from pages signed by Dimitrie Cantemir, in the adaptation for violin and piano made by the composer Vlad-Răzvan Baciu, songs by Anton Pann in the arrangement signed by Ioan Dobrinescu, being completed with creations by George Enescu, Ciprian Porumbescu, Paul Constantinescu, Ulpiu Vlad, Carmen Petra Basacopol, Adrian Iorgulescu and Dan Dediu.
The “CANTEMIR 300 – ROMANIA UNIVERSALIS” project is produced and coordinated by the INNOVARTE Cultural Association with the co-financing of the Romanian Cultural Institute, through the Cantemir Program – funding program for cultural projects aimed at the international environment and has as partners Radio Romania Muzical, the Embassy of Romania to the Commonwealth of Australia, the Embassy of Romania and the Consulate General of Romania in Chile, the BERGA MOND Association from Spain, the DOINA Association of the Romanian Aucklanders and the PROVIDENCIA Cultural Foundation from Santiago de Chile.
